I’m a mom.
“Just five more minutes” peppers my thoughts and conversation daily. Most of my responses to my children’s questions include some version of the phrase. It’s the usual answer to when lunch will be ready, how much further it is to Grandma’s, how much longer we have to wait at the doctor’s, and how much more movie time they have.
Those precious five minutes. I find myself searching for them throughout the day. Why, with five more minutes, I could sleep, or put on some makeup, or clean a bathroom, or switch a load of laundry, or read an article, or pray, or add vegetables to the kraft dinner.
Over the past year, measured out in mostly five-minute increments, I’ve become convinced that to find more of those minutes, I need to simplify my life. De-accumulate. De-clutter. Organize. Focus on the important stuff.
So why begin a journey to simplicity by adding regular writing/blogging to my life? Because I’ve missed the reflection that only happens through writing, and having time to do that is going to be one of the rewards of the journey.
